So what is a Community Cafe?
I suppose there could be many interpretations of the concept of the words ‘community cafe’.
So, what is our concept?
Far too often everything is about the bottom line, and whilst we need to be sensible in our financial operation, our bottom line isn't based on profit. It's based on a desire to provide a service into the community.
We operate as a not for profit business, all finance generated on days when the cafe operates commercially is fed back into the cafe to cover its operating expenses and to go towards community needs.
Our cafe is a place for anyone to come and enjoy stunning views, in a comfortable environment with
good quality food and drink.
To enter the cafe is to experience a warm friendly welcome, in an atmosphere of unhurried relaxation.
On Saturday mornings we offer an area specifically set aside for anyone needing a quiet friendly chat.
For families with young children our softplay castle is a great space for parents and children alike to come and enjoy. For the older children we offer colouring books and puzzle sheets to keep them entertained.
If you are interested in wildlife we have information sheets listing and describing the vast array of marine creatures that can be seen from our windows and around Skye.
We only operate three days a week as a commercial cafe, opening on
Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 9am until 4pm.
When the commercial cafe is not open, the building will be used to meet specific needs within the community on the other three days.
We are currently in the process of setting up the cafe premises as a distribution point for the Skye Community Food Bank and a Community fridge share point.
What is the ethos of the cafe?
We can't answer that question without explaining who we are, and what we believe.
We are a group of Christians known as DCF Community Church and we view
things based on Jesus's greatest commandment.
When asked, "what is the greatest commandment", Jesus gave a very simple reply.
“You must love God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind,
and the second is like it, love your neighbour as yourself.”
Love and compassion for our neighbour.
A simple message of love and integrity. This is why we do, what we do.
This is why the cafe exists.
Not as a means for profit, but to offer love and compassion into the community, with no strings attached .
We are not Christian exclusive in our work. We work alongside various organisations,
government bodies and groups who have similar interests and goals of
offering support and aid to those in need.

We are a not for profit cafe. All income is reinvested in the cafe and is used to provide free and discounted meals into the community.
